Shepherds Creed

Sheep

A place on Mother Nature’s ground
Beneath the sky the meek are found
Lambs eyes sealed in peace each night
Shepherd hides them out of sight

Though the day was hot and dry
The eve cools down and turns an eye
Night moves on to greet the morn
Devoid of choice, another’s born

The sun bows down, the moon is out
A tall oak stands so firm and stout
Perched below a branch as such
The shepherd with an angel’s touch

Guardian of these humble souls
Hands will enter in hot coals
Roaming wolves in search of prey
Are blinded by the shepherds stay

Sheltered from some skulking thief
‘Tis not their time to turn a leaf
Again the shepherd plays a card
The shepherds creed; to roam and guard.
