In the fall of 74 atop a mountain we did drill
In search of oil from below, a pipeline we would fill
Drill string used to drill the hole was long and cold hard steel
Big diesels roared and screamed, brake handle for a wheel
Huge error made, a price was paid, a young man he went down
Blocks hit the floor, from the crown, an airplane off to town
Tragedy would now strike twice, the weather at its worst
Tossed the plane just like a rag, as doctor’s were immersed
This last trip in would be a curse for each and every man
As things went from good to worse destroying every plan
Lives changed that day for everyone who stood upon that floor
A friend they lost, tugged at their hearts, it ripped them to the core.
