Too Near the Heart

Cloudy Sky

Dark clouds fall upon us when hearts are broke in two
Not just lovers in the night, others in the brew
Actions speak much louder than words tossed in the air
Sword it cuts so swiftly, thick skin it seems to bare

Heads they spin in wonder when those who hold your hand
Hold it with a vengeance, heads buried in the sand
For daylight cannot show as darkness fills with silt
Lives you brought into this world, placed upon a quilt

Sunshine from above burns through from skin to bone
No healing for the flesh as life turns into stone
Teardrops fall to the floor through cracks between the toes
Evening traps all hurt, excruciating woes.
